MUTINY PARTNERS WITH BAYSTATE’S RAYS OF HOPE

The New England Mutiny plays the Maine Tide on June 28 at 7 p.m. at Agawam High School in a Women’s Premier Soccer League match. It will be “Breast Cancer Awareness Night” at the game as the Mutiny have partnered with Baystate Hospital’s Rays of Hope Foundation.

“Creating awareness for breast cancer research is a win-win for all involved in the event. The match is also dedicated to all the soccer moms out there that are so busy that they forget about themselves”, states Mutiny team owner Joe Ferrara.

Rays of Hope raises funds for research of a cure for breast cancer and provides services for breast cancer patients. In an effort to support breast cancer awareness the Mutiny will forego wearing their usual white uniforms for commemorative pink jerseys. The pink jerseys will be auctioned off after the match with the proceeds going to the foundation.

“We are excited to be a part if this particular game with the Mutiny. As a recent breast cancer survivor it is important to me that we continue to raise awareness and work for a cure. In support of the Mutiny’s efforts our players will wear pink ribbons. I encourage everyone to bid for the pink jerseys and support this worthy cause”, said Tide GM Cheryl Stokes.

The New England Mutiny is striving for its fifth Eastern Conference Championship in the WPSL, a 50-team national league for women. The 2007 WPSL National Finalists are currently 6-1. This will be the second meeting between the Mutiny and the Tide. The Mutiny won the first match in Bangor, Maine, by a 1-0 score.
