#13 DEB NELSON

The New England Mutiny are pleased to announce the signing of Deb Nelson for the 2008 season.  Nelson, a forward for the University of Rhode Island, finished her collegiate career by scoring 35 goals and 17 assists for the Rams.  She scored 11 goals and had three assists (25 points) in 19 games during her senior season, while leading her team in goals and ranked third in that same category for the league.  She was ranked sixth in total points in the Atlantic 10 Conference this past fall.  Nelson was selected to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) /Adidas NCAA Division 1 Women’s All-Northeast Regional First Team as well as being named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team in 2006 and 2007.  During her freshman season at URI, she was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.  Over her four year career at Ponaganset High School in Rhode Island, she scored 66 goals and 40 assists.
