#14 KAREN GURNON
This will be Karen Gurnon’s third season with the New England Mutiny. Gurnon has become a prime fixture in the starting lineup for both the Mutiny & the University of Connecticut, but after starting the first three matches last fall for the Huskies, the sophomore’s season ended prematurely due to injury.
In her first season, Karen played in all 22 games (20 starts) for UConn - grabbing a goal and an assist. Before her Husky career, she was a four-year varsity letter winner for Tolland H.S., scoring 33 goals and 39 assists over her decorated career.
Gurnon was named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas All-American Team and All- Region I (New England) Team. Her success continued that year, as she was selected Connecticut State Girl’s Player of the Year as well as the CJSA Girl’s Soccer Player of the Year.
Karen was also recognized as Tolland H.S.’s MVP for the 2005-2007 seasons. Other accolades include being named to the All-State Soccer Team (2005-2007) and to the North Central Connecticut Conference (NCCC) All-Conference Soccer Team (2004-2007). Gurnon was also a member of the Connecticut ODP Team from 2003-2005.
