#9 ERIN “GRADY” GATTO

Co-captain Erin Gatto, playing in her fifth season, remains one of the most popular players for the Mutiny. In 2007, Erin returned to the team from a brief “retirement” to score the division-clinching goal against Connecticut and assisting on the double-overtime game-winning goal against Atlantic City, which catapulted the Mutiny to the WPSL National Final Four. The greatest testament to Erin’s dedication to the organization came during last season’s National Championship. After missing the semifinal match on Saturday, due to a wedding (her own), the former Erin O’Grady flew to Tampa to play in the Finals the very next day. Last season, “Grady” started all 12 regular season matches for the Mutiny, scoring 6 goals and assisting on 3. In 2004, with her hard work & effort, O’Grady was selected to play in the WUSA Soccer Festivals and was a key component in the Mutiny midfield, especially for the successful late season surge by New England as she scored and assisted on a goal in the 4-3 loss to China. Erin started 7 of 8 matches, scoring two goals and an assist. After a stellar career for the Syracuse University Orangewomen, where she was a 1st Team All-Big East selection in 1998 and 2000 (2nd Team in 1997 and 1999), Erin was inducted into the Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Erin joined the professional ranks with the Boston Breakers of the WUSA in 2003. O’Grady was a big hit for the 2003 WUSA Semifinalists, playing in 9 matches for the regular season champs. Erin was an assistant coach at Assumption College in 2001 and 2002.
