#4 JESSICA DIAKUN

Jessica Diakun

Jessica Diakun is returning for her fifth season with the Mutiny; second only to Jenny Maurer for longest current tenure with the club. Diakun started every regular season game at the center of the Mutiny defense. Unfortunately due to an ankle injury, Diakun missed the playoffs last season. She has been a steady defensive presence in her three seasons at the University of Connecticut, starting 21 of 22 matches in 2007 for the Huskies. “JD” played in every single minute of four NCAA tournament games that season, as UConn made it all the way to the National Championship Final Four. She was second on the team in total minutes played with 1860. Prior to the start of the 2008 season, Diakun redshirted after suffering a season-ending injury.

Diakun is a native of Glastonbury, CT and attended Glastonbury H.S. She is a defender with good athleticism and strong technical skills. Diakun was selected as the Hartford Courant Player of the Year in 2004 after leading her team in scoring with 29 goals as a forward. She also was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region I Pool.
