CLUB PHILOSOPHY
Mission Statement
The mission of the New England Mutiny Soccer Academy is to provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for soccer players in Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. The New England Mutiny is committed to developing players to their fullest potential by providing the best coaches and first-class facilities.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the New England Mutiny is predicated on the belief that soccer must always be fun for its youth players and focus placed on individual player development.
There are over 600,000 registered youth soccer players in Connecticut and Massachusetts, yet 75% of these players will quit soccer by age 14. The number one reason for this is that coaches and parents lose sight that the game should be fun to play. New England Mutiny youth teams never take the field looking to lose, however very little importance is placed on game results. Players will learn to play creatively and troubleshoot issues on their own. Mistakes will be commonplace and ultimately lead to teams suffering goals during this learning stage. Teams will never sacrifice this philosophy just to win games in order to be promoted or maintain its flight in the premier ranks. Any coach that sacrifices development for results may be released, regardless of record.
The New England Mutiny has an unparalleled pipeline with collegiate programs in the region. The top elements college coaches find important are the coaching curriculum, youth club affiliation and family values. Little, if any, importance is placed on club championships, winning records or league affiliation.
Program Overview
1. COACHING
The academy coaching staff is of the highest quality. All of the New England Mutiny coaches will be required to receive the necessary national coaching licenses. A list of coaches and their bios are available on our coaching & academy staff pages.
2. TRAINING
The key to the development of elite soccer players is the ability for the coaching staff to run its training sessions in a professional environment with the whole team so that there can be a consistent and professional approach to the individual and team development. A view of our complex can be viewed on our training center page. The New England Mutiny offers a year-round training program
3. CURRICULUM
The New England Mutiny will use a standardized approach where an age-appropriate curriculum is utilized throughout the club. The curriculum will emphasize technical training throughout the younger age groups. Tactical training and systems of play will be introduced at age 14.
